a magnificent venue
| EBU Proposals to charge a fee to everyone who plays in
a Bridge Club There is a significant body of opinion which believes this proposal will be damaging to Duplicate bridge structure and the EBU. I have spent some time gathering information from the Internet which I have put on the EBU Page on this website. Delegates at the Lancashire Council meeting on the 19th May 2008 voted to recommend our Shareholders to vote in favour at the forthcoming EBU Shareholders meeting - Counties vote was 52 in favour, 32 against - see EBU page for details That is not a great margin for such a substantial and controversial issue - we will keep you up to date here. |
Annual General Meeting Monday 19th
May 2008
The 2007/8 accounts were approved. There was comment on the increase in Tollemache Expenses (Lancashire reached the final stages) and Delegates' expenses (first full year of claims). As there had been a significant increase in motoring costs the treasurer thought there should be a relevant increase in the 25p allowance. As this item was not on the Agenda, it was to be discussed at the next e Executive Meeting and if appropriate, it would appear at on a future AGM Agenda. Westhead, Edge Hill and Tudor Court are no longer affiliated to Lancashire. This leaves 22 affiliated clubs all of whom have either paid their 2008/9 subscription or have made arrangements to do so. Council Meeting Monday 19th May 2008
Jackie Wright becomes the holder of one Lancashire EBU Share instead of Tony Cordery. There is no Schools ar EBUTA Representative for Lancashire The EBU Fundraising Proposal was discussed and in spite of most of the comments being unfavourable, club delegates voted by a big majority to recommend our Shareholders to vote in favour at the EBU Meeting unless new facts emerged which made this inadvisable. (You can find out more on our EBU page) Selections for the Northern League and the Cumbria Match were still incomplete. The teams will appear on the website as soon as possible. |
